(Minghui.org) A woman in Longkou City, Shandong Province, was arrested on March 23, 2026, for talking to people about the Chinese communist regime’s ongoing persecution of her faith, Falun Gong. She was released on bail on the same day. When she demanded that the police lift the bail condition and dismiss her case, the police threatened to send her to prison.
Officers from the Shiliang Police Station, as well as Guo Fudui, director of the Longkou City Domestic Security Office, were responsible for arresting Ms. Xiu Junhuan, in her 70s, and raiding her home.
Guo interrogated Ms. Xiu at the police station and forcibly collected her fingerprints and palm prints. She was released on bail around 6 p.m.
On April 11, the police summoned Ms. Xiu, ordering her to sign some document per a directive from the authorities in Yantai, which oversees Longkou City. She refused to comply. She pointed out that Falun Gong isn’t on the cult list issued by the Ministry of Public Security and that she shouldn’t be targeted for her faith. The police demanded to see evidence to support her arguments.
Ms. Xiu went to the police station with the supporting documents on April 15. An officer there still ordered her to sign her case file. She insisted that she wouldn’t sign it. She asked for the officer’s name, and he only said that his family name was “Liu.”
After leaving the police station, Ms. Xiu mailed a letter to the Longkou City Procuratorate and the Longkou City Court, demanding that the authorities lift her bail condition and dismiss her case.
Ms. Xiu returned to the police station a day later, on April 16, and tried to further clarify the facts about Falun Gong. They refused to listen, but attempted to videotape her. She didn’t cooperate.
Two officers went to Ms. Xiu’s home on April 17. They pushed her into their car and took her to the Longkou City Procuratorate.
At the procuratorate, a staffer questioned Ms. Xiu, “Are you paid for doing this? Do you have a leader?”
Ms. Xiu said no to both questions.
“You are counted as a leader if you practice Falun Gong yourself. How about this? Given your age, we can let you go if you write a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong. If you don’t, we will send your case to Yantai and sentence you to prison.”
The staffer also threatened Ms. Xiu that her grandson may not be allowed to attend college if she didn’t renounce Falun Gong. Ms. Xiu still refused to comply.
Guo also interrogated Ms. Xiu and attempted to learn how she put together the letter she mailed to the procuratorate. “I can sentence you to prison just with this letter,” he threatened her.
The procuratorate staffer tried to collect Ms. Xiu’s fingerprints and take photos of her. She also refused to comply.
Ms. Xiu was released later that afternoon.
