Amid the CCP’s escalating transnational repression in Canada and around the world that targets Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong), more MPs came to show their support compared to prior years. They commended practitioners for upholding Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, their contributions to the community, and for their unwavering faith despite the persecution that has gone on for decades. They said they firmly support Falun Dafa. The officials also condemned the CCP’s persecution of practitioners and its transnational repression, which threatens Canadians’ safety. They warned people that this persecution has crossed borders, so Canada must take action to stop it.

Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Are Values We All Need

Parliamentarian Judy Sgro, a long-time supporter of Falun Gong, highly praised Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and said they are universal values, “That resonate deeply in Canada and reflect who we aspire to be as a society.”

Judy Sgro was one of many parliamentarians who came to show her support and speak during activities held to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.

She said, “Today we celebrate the 34th anniversary of the public introduction of Falun Dafa and the principles at its core—what you teach all of us, not only in Canada but throughout the world. The values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance are the three values that the world needs to live up [to] and to celebrate. Those are the things that we all need to have, and the tolerance to understand each other.”

She thanked the organizers for bringing everyone together and “For continuing to promote reflection, compassion, and respect.” She said, “It is about human rights. Human rights are everybody’s rights, and we need to stand together and make sure that the world will be with us all as we move forward in a challenging time. God bless each and every one of you as you have a wonderful day.”

Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance Is the Foundation of All Civilizations

MP Scott Reid applauded and thanked Falun Gong practitioners for staying true to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in 27 years of resisting the persecution. He said it is hard to think of another group like Falun Gong, “Who have stayed as true to the ideals of their movement as you have done and not just those of you in Canada, but obviously those who are in other countries around the world those who are suffering persecution in China itself to stay as true to the goals of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance in the face of persecution, is absolutely extraordinary to see!”

MP Scott Reid joined practitioners in celebrating World Falun Dafa Day at Parliament Hill on May 5, 2026.

He said, “To see it done by so many people is a testament to the power of those beliefs and to the strength that those beliefs in this movement has given to the individuals who are practitioners, and I can only say how much I applaud you for this and how much anybody who takes a moment to look and see what you’ve done ought to be applauding you.” He told practitioners, “You are a great contributor to many things - to the recognition and spreading of the fundamental values of Chinese culture and society and civilization to the rest of the world, to capturing and ensuring respect for those in the face of a government within China that is not respectful to its own culture and heritage, and to guiding us all with principles that are the foundation stone of all civilizations.

“Thank you for what you do, thank you for being truthful, for being compassionate, and for forbearing from the actions that would have brought discredit to the remarkable movement that you represent.”

You Have Made the World a Better Place. Your Values Ring True in Canada

MP James Bezan stressed in his speech: “The principles of Falun Dafa, of Truth, Compassion and Tolerance are values that we all share as Canadians.” He said, “Although we come from many different parts of the world and diverse backgrounds, we are united here in Canada to uphold those principles.”

MP James Bezan attended World Falun Dafa Day celebrations at Parliament Hill.

“Sadly, those values are not shared by the communist regime in Beijing. Despite the torturous oppression that has been carried out against Falun Gong practitioners in China, the work that you have done here in Canada and around the world, and even in China itself, has made the world a better place. I want to thank all of you, as Falun Gong practitioners, who have made Canada your home. You have made us a better nation, a stronger country, and one that you inspire each and every one of us. Congratulations on 34 amazing years!”

MP Larry Brock attended World Falun Dafa Day celebrations at Parliament Hill.

However, despite these attacks, which have taken place as long as Falun Dafa has existed, your community perseveres. Your commitment and faith are truly inspiring.”

MP Michael Guglielmin joined practitioners in celebrating the 34th anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the public.
