(Minghui.org) In the process of clarifying the truth face-to-face and helping people to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, I follow Master’s teachings and hold myself to the standards of a cultivator. I aim to let people truly feel the kindness and compassion of Dafa practitioners, and at the same time help them awaken from the lies of the evil CCP.
I am a taxi driver. A couple of years ago, my hometown suffered a flood. After the dam failure, disaster victims were relocated to shelters in the county. Due to the hot weather, many people in the shelters became ill and needed to go to the hospital. However, the shelters were far away from the hospital, and not close to public transportation. Moreover, taking a taxi was too expensive for many people. Therefore, I decided to volunteer and provide free transportation for the victims.
I went to the shelters and left my phone number with the security guard. I told him that anyone in need could contact me for free rides. He was shocked, “Free rides for the disaster victims?” I replied, “I am a Falun Gong practitioner.” As he had been poisoned by the CCP’s negative propaganda about Falun Gong, he questioned, “Isn’t Falun Gong an evil cult?” I smiled and said, “Falun Gong is rooted in Buddhist tradition, and we cultivate based on the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It was Jiang Zemin who defamed Falun Gong.” He nodded and then asked, “What about the Tiananmen self-immolation incident?” I said, “That was staged by the CCP to frame Falun Gong. There are many clear pieces of evidence in that incident that prove it was staged.” I then went on to explain the details of the staged immolation, and he understood. I told him about quitting the CCP and its affiliated youth organizations to stay safe, and he readily agreed.
Since the day I left my phone number, there were disaster victims calling me daily. There were people I knew and those I didn’t know. Those who knew me already had some understanding about me and would say, “Falun Dafa is good.” [Note: Falun Gong is also called Falun Dafa.] Those who did not know me would ask if I was a volunteer. I would tell them I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. I explained the truth about Falun Dafa to them and encouraged them to withdraw from the CCP to stay safe. Everyone was willing to accept my words. Moreover, even though the government tried to hide it, everyone knew the truth about the dam failure and the flood. Through this incident, they clearly saw the falsehood and deceit of the CCP and the truthfulness of Falun Dafa.
This free transportation also completely changed my elder brother’s attitude toward Falun Dafa. When the police came to my home, my brother was there. He is someone who usually does not speak truthfully, but that day he said something honest: “I used to oppose my sister practicing Falun Gong, but after seeing her provide free transportation for disaster victims during last year’s dam collapse, I changed my attitude toward Falun Dafa. I no longer oppose it. Ordinary people cannot do this, but Falun Gong practitioners do.”
Master said:
“When you see others having difficulties and help them, you are being kind and doing good.” (“Teaching the Fa and Answering Questions in Guangzhou”, Explaining the Teachings of Zhuan Falun)
I have always kept this teaching in mind and followed it in how I conduct myself. Although free transportation may seem like a small thing, it allowed more people to understand Falun Dafa in a positive way, see the kindness of Dafa practitioners, and make the decision to withdraw from the CCP.
One day, I was driving my taxi through the rain. When I passed the terminal of a long-distance bus station, I saw a mother and daughter getting off a bus. Normally, I would not actively ask people if they were looking for a ride, because there are usually many taxis there competing for business. But that day there were no taxis, likely due to the weather, so I rolled down the window and asked if they needed a ride. They nodded and got in.
I chatted with them on the way. The mother said her husband had cancer, and all their savings had been spent on treatment, but he still passed away. She also asked about my situation and was curious why I was still driving a taxi at my age. I told her that I was once a teacher, but later suffered persecution because I practiced Falun Gong. She asked, “Isn’t Falun Gong an evil cult? If the government does not allow it, why do you still practice it?” I told her about the physical and mental benefits I experienced after practicing Falun Dafa. I told her that I used to gamble, and I frequently went out to dance and eat all night long. After practicing Falun Gong, I followed Master’s teachings of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, thought of others first, and stopped competing for personal gain. I explained that not long after, all the bad habits I had were gone, and I also gained great health. After hearing this, she was very surprised and said, “Falun Gong is actually so good!” Before we knew it, we had arrived at their destination.
After they got out of the taxi, I started to head back; but then I looked at the rain outside and thought that they probably had no umbrella. They were from the provincial capital and would need to take another ride afterwards. The area was remote and it would not be easy to find a taxi. At that moment, I recalled Master’s teaching to become a being that is selfless and acts for others. Without hesitation, I turned back to where I had dropped them off.
After 40 or 50 minutes, they finished their business and came out. The mother was surprised and said, “You have been waiting here all this time?” I said, “Yes, I was worried that you would have a hard time getting a taxi, so I waited for you. Come on in.” I asked where they wanted to go. She said they had not eaten breakfast yet and wanted to eat before returning to the provincial capital. Considering their financial difficulty, I said, “I will take you back to the bus station. It is cheaper to take the bus back to the provincial capital, and there are places to eat nearby.” She agreed and thanked me repeatedly.
On the way, I asked what business they were doing. She said they came to apply for a student loan for her daughter, because all the family money had been spent on her husband’s medical treatment. Now she was running a small business alone, and life was very difficult. I asked whether the child’s grandparents knew about their situation. She said they had stayed at the grandparents’ home the day before; they knew the situation but did not provide any financial support. She then said, “When I came out just now and saw you still waiting there, I was truly moved. Even my relatives do not give us support, but you, a stranger I just met, have helped us so much. I am really grateful.” I said, “As long as it helps you, even small things are worth doing.”
Later on I told them about withdrawing from the CCP organizations to stay safe, and both of them happily agreed. When I dropped them off at the bus station, the mother asked for my QR code to pay the fare. I said, “No need. Given your situation, I won’t take any payment. Falun Dafa’s Master teaches us to think of others first.” She said, “I can’t let you do that!” But I firmly refused and told them again, “Please remember ‘Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,’ and do not believe the lies of the evil CCP.” They said they would remember that and thanked me again.
I have encountered many similar things on my cultivation path. I have only written down these two small stories to share with fellow practitioners. If there is anything not in accordance with the Fa, please kindly point it out.
