(Minghui.org) Five residents in Neijiang City, Sichuan Province, were sentenced to prison on April 16, 2026, because they practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang Liangsheng, a 54-year-old salon owner, was sentenced to two years and fined 5,000 yuan. He was sent to the Jiazhou Prison.
Mr. Wang’s wife, Ms. Lai Zongping, was given two years with a four-year probation and fined 4,000 yuan.
Ms. Li Xiuhua was sentenced to two years with a three-year probation and fined 4,000 yuan.
Mr. Chen Huoming and Ms. Zhuo Xiaoqiong were both sentenced to one year with a two-year probation and 3,000-yuan fine.
The five practitioners were arrested during a police sweep on October 30, 2024. Mr. Wang and Ms. Lai were seized at their family-run salon. Ms. Li and Ms. Zhuo were arrested at their respective homes. It’s not clear where Mr. Chen was arrested. The police monitored the practitioners for a long time before they arrested them.
While the other practitioners were soon released on bail, Mr. Wang was held at the Neijiang City Detention Center before he was transferred to prison. The Shizhong District Court convicted the practitioners on April 16, 2026, but details about their prosecution are unavailable.
