(Minghui.org) A 61-year-old woman in Yingkou City, Liaoning Province, was admitted to the 12th Division at Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in March 2026 to serve a 4.5-year term because she practices Falun Gong.
Ms. Jin Cuixiang was arrested on April 21, 2025, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. It’s not known when she was sentenced to prison by the Yingkou City Court.
This is the third time Ms. Jin has been sentenced since the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. She was previously given ten years on January 23, 2003, and sentenced to another four years on September 5, 2018. She was repeatedly tortured while she was imprisoned, including being subjected to electric shocks, force-feeding, denied restroom use, and forced labor. See the related report for details of her past persecution.
In April 2012, three months after Ms. Jin completed her first prison sentence, she went to the Chaoyang City Labor and Human Resources Bureau to apply for early retirement, but was told that her ten years in prison were not counted as years of service since her workplace fired her. As a result, she must wait until she turned 50 in 2015 to apply for retirement.
Ms. Jin’s retirement was processed at the end of 2016. As she could not afford to make contributions into her pension between the second half of 2009 and 2016, her pension was not even 1,300 yuan per month. Her pension was suspended in February 2019 while she was serving her second prison term. It’s unclear whether it was ever reinstated.
