Arrested in a Police Sweep, Another Heilongjiang Resident Confirmed Sentenced to Prison for Practicing Falun Gong

(Minghui.org) A man in his 60s in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, was sentenced to four and a half years on January 20, 2026, for practicing Falun Gong. Mr. Li Xiukuan is the person arrested during a police sweep on August 21 to be convicted for refusing to give up their faith.

Three others arrested on the same day as Mr. Li were sentenced after him. Ms. Zhou Chuanying, 65, was sentenced to seven and a half years on March 18, 2026; Ms. Liu Fujin, 63, was given seven years following a court appearance on March 30, 2026; Ms. Zhao Xihua, 61, was sentenced to three years and two months after a hearing on April 23, 2026. Ms. Liu Shuzhen, Mr. Shi Zuosheng, Ms. Chen Xiumei, and Ms. Li Hongmei all appeared in court on March 30, 2026, and are awaiting verdicts.

At around 8 a.m. on August 21, 2025, six officers broke into Mr. Li’s home and quickly seized his cell phone. While two female officers watched him and his wife, the four male officers spent hours searching the place, filling two carloads of personal items from Mr. Li’s home. He was admitted to the Shuangcheng District Detention Center.

The police returned to Mr. Li’s home on August 27, 2025, and asked his wife details about his case. They also removed the camera Mr. Li installed on his front door.

Mr. Li was tried in the Daoli District Court on January 19, 2026. Two lawyers pled not guilty on his behalf. He was convicted a day later.

After being aabused in custody, Mr. Li developed a medical condition and is now being treated in the Harbin City Sixth Hospital, which has a ward that serves as a prison hospital.
