(Minghui.org) The Minghui.org website previously reported on the abuse of Falun Gong practitioners jailed in the Jiazhou Prison (located in Leshan City, Sichuan Province) and the establishment of a “special case team” to intensify the persecution. This report provides additional information about the new team.
Guard Gong Jingfu from the fourth division formally launched the special case team (also known as a “transformation team”) on May 22, 2025. His motivation for the new team was that the strict management team (also known as the new inmates’ team), which was re-assigned from the ninth division to his fourth division in 2022, had failed to make newly-admitted practitioners renounce Falun Gong.
He started barring newly-admitted practitioners from having any contact with other practitioners, to prevent the latter from influencing the former. When that also failed to make practitioners submit to his pressure, he came up with the idea of having a special case team in April 2024, and made it official the following year (the delay was due to his taking a leave of absence for family matters). Gan Hong, an inmate who headed the strict management team, often threatened the practitioners, saying, “You’ll behave once the ‘transformation team’ is up and running!”
The “transformation team” is physically located in cell 303 and consists of six inmate-members, including Guo Chaohui (team lead), Li Shikuan, and Gan Hong. Guard Gong offered term reductions to incentivize these inmates to work hard to “transform” the practitioners.
After the “transformation” team was set up, the Jiazhou Prison started accepting Falun Gong practitioners only one at a time (when in the past it admitted groups of newly-sentenced practitioners every two weeks). As soon as a newly-admitted practitioner arrived, he was immediately taken to the “transformation team” to be “worked on” by the above-mentioned six inmates.
The inmates remain tight-lipped regarding what torture tactics they use on practitioners. It was reported that some of them stayed up all night to abuse practitioners in order to get as much term reduction as possible. Even before the “transformation team” was officially launched, screams from practitioners were heard coming out of cell 303 at around 5 a.m. on November 19, 2024.
At least three practitioners are still jailed in the Jiazhou Prison at the time of this writing, including:
Mr. Yu Faquan, 70 and serving a four-year term, was persecuted by the “transformation team” between May and June 2025. He is now in the second division.
Mr. Nie Zongguo, 71 and serving a five-year term, was persecuted by the “transformation team” between June and July 2025. He remains in the fourth division.
Mr. Gong Yongcheng, a 21-year-old college student serving a 4-year term, was likely also persecuted by the “transformation team.” He is still held in the fourth division.
