(Minghui.org) On July 18, 2026, practitioners gathered in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin to raise awareness of the persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), which has gone on since July 1999. People stopped to watch as they did the exercises. They read the banners and flyers and signed a petition calling for an end to the 27-year-long persecution. Some people learned the exercises.
More than 10 Members of Parliament wrote letters to express their support for practitioners and to criticize the harsh persecution. Two of these letters were read during the rally.

“I became aware of the plight of the Falun Gong community after learning about the issue of illegal organ trafficking [by the CCP],” wrote Member of Parliament (MP) Sebastian Maack in his letter. “As a Christian who practices meditation myself, I feel deep sympathy for all those who suffer persecution, imprisonment, and torture, as well as for their families. Spirituality and faith are the foundation of a fulfilling life. Anyone who attempts to strip people of this foundation is, in effect, destroying them.
“I sincerely wish you the strength, courage, and hope to endure this difficult trial. No lie and no oppression can last forever, even if that may not always be immediately apparent,” he concluded. “May your efforts in the pursuit of justice ultimately succeed.”
MP Ronald Gläser wrote, “On this day, July 20th, I wish to express my sincere solidarity and support for you. Freedom of religion and freedom of conscience are universal human rights. I am deeply distressed to learn that peaceful believers in China have suffered persecution, discrimination, and imprisonment for nearly thirty years simply because of their faith.
“Germany and China are trading partners. However, this does not mean we must remain silent when fundamental human rights are violated,” MP Ronald Gläser continued. “I support your peaceful yet steadfast efforts to uphold tolerance and humanity. I sincerely hope that each of you finds strength and confidence, and that this persecution comes to an end soon.”
Tour guide Beate Menerf signed a petition to support Falun Gong practitioners. (Minghui.org)
Beate Menerf, a tour guide, said she did not know much about Falun Gong in the past. Looking at the words “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” on the banner, she said she fully agreed with them. “These are universal values,” she explained. “Regardless of which country or which culture a person is from, I think he or she will accept these.”
She said it's not easy to live by these principles, which is why she signed a petition without hesitation since she wanted to support practitioners who are suppressed for upholding their belief. “I am not very familiar with Chinese history. But, after I read the information, I want to sign this,” she said.
Rolf Aretz and his family of five were driving from Dresden to the Baltic coast for a vacation. They stopped in Berlin and noticed the practitioners’ activity. Rolf said the music was wonderful and very relaxing, and said it is hard to imagine such a peaceful cultivation group has been persecuted by the CCP for 27 years.
A practitioner explained to the family that Falun Gong consists of not only the exercises, but also improving one’s character according to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “Because the CCP seeks to establish a system that controls people’s minds, it may view a spiritual practice like this as a threat,” Rolf said.
He signed the petition calling to end the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners. “That is truly heinous and atrocious. Beyond that, I really don’t know what else to say. It is absolutely horrifying,” he added.

Stani E. from Cologne and her husband quietly observed Falun Gong practitioners doing the exercises for quite some time. Interested in the practice, she sat down and learned the fifth exercise. She said she liked it very much.
“I feel that, in this fast-paced world, being able to pause, quiet down, and achieve a state of calm focus is actually not easy,” Stani said. “To me, this is an ability that people today have lost. It is crucial for each of us to rediscover this.”
She was impressed by Falun Gong’s guiding principle of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “I think that if everyone were to practice this, there would be no more wars,” she said.
Regarding the 27-year persecution of Falun Gong in China, she said it was truly terrible. “It should not happen anywhere, at any time. Condemning hatred and persecution is a shared mission for all kindhearted people,” she continued.
Maurice tells people about Falun Gong. (Minghui.org)
Maurice said the persecution has gone on for 27 years. “We are holding this event at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin today to tell the public about the persecution, since there is still a great deal of negative propaganda and smear campaigns directed at Falun Gong,” he said. “We hope to help more people understand what Falun Gong is and the fact that the Chinese Communist Party continues to persecute practitioners.”
Having practiced for over a decade, Maurice finds that Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance have continuously helped him. “Dafa is like a guide for life. It provides me with a way to constantly reflect and think about how I can improve. I regularly examine my thoughts to see if they align with Falun Gong’s moral compass,” he explained.
