(Minghui.org) “We stand with you!” was among the comments heard during a rally held by Falun Gong practitioners in Montreal’s Chinatown on July 19, 2026. The event was one of the activities that mark practitioners’ 27 years of protesting the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. They also called on the international community to help end the CCP’s atrocities.

Practitioners did the exercises and gave speeches in Chinese, English and French, to tell people how the CCP imprisons, tortures, brainwashes, and subjects practitioners to forced organ harvesting. Many people said they were appalled by the persecution.

They held a candlelight vigil that evening at Place d’Armes to mourn for their fellow practitioners who died during the persecution.

Signature collection calls for an end to the CCP’s persecution.

An American tourist said that she lived in Hong Kong for four years and heard about the persecution of Falun Gong. She admired practitioners’ tenacity and said, “My heart is with you!”

A man took pictures of the display boards which had information about rescuing Canadian practitioners’ family members in China. After hearing that one of the imprisoned practitioners was Ms. Cong’s eighty-year-old mother, he encouraged her and said, “We stand with you!”

After a man read the banners at the candlelight vigil and took a photo of each one he said, “All the wicked are doomed. Justice will win!”

Richard, a local resident said, “They are jailed and tortured for their belief. They are brave people...Activities like this is important to tell people about the Chinese Communist Party’s crimes. I support these efforts and I hope people all over Canada will learn about it.”

College students Lucas and Corale were intrigued by the Falun Gong exercises and joined practitioners as they meditated. Lucas said that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance are values everyone should have. He said he was fully supportive of practitioners’ peacefully resisting the persecution.

Stephone and Malory said forced organ harvesting was a terrible crime. Stephone added that we shouldn’t allow the Chinese Communist Party to have secret police stations in Canada, and it must be stopped.

The atmosphere was solemn at the candlelight vigil as practitioners silently held candles to commemorate practitioners who were persecuted to death. They hope more people will see the true nature of the CCP and help stop the persecution.
