(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Dafa in 1996. During these many years on my cultivation path, Master Li has always protected me. I feel that he can use everything I run into in my life and at work to help me improve and elevate my xinxing.

Looking back, the suffering and struggle during those years of persecution have long since faded. What’s left is Master’s immense compassion for his disciples and sentient beings, as well as my boundless gratitude. From the Fa, I learned that none of today’s people have simple backgrounds, and practitioners shoulder the responsibility of saving them.

Walking My Path to Save People

Last year, I worked a half-day job as a laborer. After I finished doing the Dafa exercises, sending forth righteous thoughts, and having a simple breakfast, I had to be at work by 7:30 a.m.

After work, I clarified the facts to people on my way home. But one day, for some reason, I couldn’t help anyone quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations, so I was in a bad mood. After listening to a Minghui podcast, I had a hint from Master: My field is impure, I have strong Party culture and am attached to my own ego and validating myself. This was evident in how I pick and choose whom I deem worthy to talk to when clarifying the facts.

I asked myself: “Can I let go of myself? Can I leave everything up to Master? Do I believe he is omnipotent? Why am I trying to arrange my own cultivation path? Why not just let things happen naturally?” I then tried to let go of my own ego and asked Master to strengthen me. Afterward, I was enveloped by immense compassion.

I took more than a dozen Dafa calendars with me the next morning. On my way to work, I that assumed anyone I ran into had a predestined relationship with me, so I gave them a calendar. I was in a hurry, so I was practically jogging the whole way. I met two elderly women along the way and asked, “Hey, do you want a calendar? It’s to promote Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”

One of them said, “Please give me one.” I asked if she knew what it was about and if she’d seen the calendars before. She said she had and had also quit the CCP and its youth organizations.

I then asked the other lady, who said she hadn’t quit. After I explained the importance of quitting the Party, she gladly agreed.

I offered a calendar to an elderly man who turned out to be a Party member. He acknowledged the goodness of Dafa and decided to quit the CCP. It was great how I was able to help a couple of people quit the CCP on my 10-minute walk to work.

On my way home at noon, I continued handing out calendars. Whoever I ran into, I’d tell myself, “I have to let go of my own ego for the sake of sentient beings.” What happened then was really amazing. The day before I couldn’t get anyone to quit, but almost everyone I spoke to that day was willing to. Whatever their age or background, I managed to help them quit after just a few sentences, and they all expressed their gratitude. All told, I helped 11 people quit the CCP. I felt I was surrounded by a warm energy field and understood it was Master who was empowering me.

I ran into a woman the next day and got straight to the point, “Hi there! Have you heard about quitting the CCP to ensure your safety? Look at all the natural and man-made disasters these past few years. How many people lost their lives due to the pandemic? Did you hear about people having to queue to get their family members cremated?”

The woman replied, “Four people in my family died during the pandemic. I’m over it now, so I won’t cry when I talk about it. But before, I couldn’t stop crying as soon as someone brought it up.”

I then explained why one had to quit the CCP to stay safe. She agreed and lamented, “If only I’d met you sooner, my family members might have been saved!” Tears came to my eyes when she said this.

Laughter Around the Dinner Table

I changed jobs after the Chinese New Year and started working for an elderly couple, cooking a meal for them every day and doing cleaning and laundry.

The man was 96 and his wife was 87. They were retired CCP officials and in relatively poor health. The man used a walker to get around, and the woman had difficulty walking as well. Yet their minds were still very clear. When they first met me and learned I was over 60 but in very good physical and mental condition, they asked me to start working the next day.

I told the wife that I practiced Falun Dafa and, because I wouldn’t give up my belief, my husband was forced to divorce me over 20 years ago. He couldn’t stand the police harassment and wanted to live without constant fear. I said, “You and your husband can talk about it. If you can’t accept this, that’s okay. Just call me, and I won’t come back tomorrow.”

Shortly after I got home, the husband called and said, “Your faith isn’t an issue for this job. You can come as planned tomorrow.” I was glad they chose kindness and were willing to give me a chance.

The wife was very particular about cleanliness. She exchanged their fully automatic washing machine for a semi-automatic one, because she believed that their clothes would be cleaner if they were washed partly by hand. I had to follow her instructions: First, I had to hand-scrub all the clothes, then put them in the washing machine, only two pieces at a time. I repeated this painstaking process until they were all done. I then had to put all the clothes together in the machine again for a final rinse.

For a cultivator, whatever one runs into is not accidental. This must have been to help me eliminate some of my attachments. Because I was impatient, this was a way for me to temper myself.

The wife’s new dentures didn’t fit well, so I went with her to the dentist every few days to get them fixed. Sometimes, I also helped her husband buy medicine and do other errands. He once asked me to buy potatoes, then called me on the way to say I also needed to buy medicine someplace far away.

I originally wanted to find a job with shorter working hours, because I had other things I wanted to do. But I often ran errands for them on my own time, which I really didn’t want to do. I wondered what I would do if they were my parents. I thought these people probably had a great predestined relationship with me and should be saved.

After thinking this over, whenever the wife said she needed something, I would go buy it, even if it wasn’t part of my job.

I once went to seven different pharmacies to buy their medicine. They insisted on giving me the cab fare, but I declined. The wife said, “We’d have to take a cab ourselves and going to so many pharmacies would cost a lot. You must accept reimbursement; we can’t let you go all that way for nothing.”

I said, “Master Li asks us to think about others. If I didn’t practice Falun Dafa, I probably would have taken your money. But I can’t lie: I used public transit instead of a cab.” In the end, I only accepted reimbursement for the bus fare.

She confided, “The first woman we hired was in her 50s and in very poor health. She couldn’t carry groceries if they weighed more than four pounds and had to take a cab home. And then she’d get carsick. She was always complaining about being tired. Just hearing her say she was tired made me feel tired, too.”

I laughed, “Look at me. I am blessed with good health. If I didn’t practice Falun Dafa, I’d have ended up the same as her. I used to be terribly ill.”

When we talked about the current state of society, they admitted it wasn’t good. But if I said that the CCP wasn’t good, they didn’t want to listen. I realized I needed to take things slowly. If I cultivated well, maybe they’d eventually change their minds.

One day, the wife went into cardiac arrest, and was taken to the provincial capital hospital. I took this opportunity to talk to her husband about Falun Dafa in depth. Afterward, he agreed to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations and even accepted an amulet from me.

When his two sons had lunch with us, I cooked four dishes for them. During the meal, they offered me wine, but I firmly refused. I told them it was due to my faith and then began to clarify the facts to them. They were very kind and understood the truth.

The eldest son, who was over 70, said, “I heard you even made a bib for my father, so you must be very kind.” I replied that, if my father were still alive, he’d be one year older than his father. I could see my father’s traits in him: quiet, kind, understanding, and never wanting to trouble others.

In the end, the eldest son proposed a toast: “With you as our witness, all of us quit the CCP.” I picked up my rice bowl to toast, which made everyone burst our laughing.

Dafa practitioners are fortunate beings. Only by doing the three things well can we repay Master for his immense compassion and saving grace. I’m in my 60s, but my body feels light, and I’m bathed in Dafa’s divine light. I have a brand new understanding of the meaning of life, and I’m one of the lives envied by the heavens above.
