Northern Europe: Chinese Foreign Minister’s Visit Meets with Peaceful Protests

July 8, 2026 |   By Minghui correspondents in Europe

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from Denmark and Sweden called for an end to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution and its state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting during Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi’s visit to four Northern European countries: Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland, from July 2 to 8, 2026.

Outside several government locations in Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden, practitioners held banners with messages that called on people to pay attention to the CCP’s human rights abuses.

Protesting in Rain in Denmark

Practitioners held protests outside the Copenhagen Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Amalienborg Palace while Wang Yi visited Denmark on July 2 and 3, 2026. Danish police upheld their legal right to demonstrate, and several mainstream media outlets reported on the activities.

Practitioners stood in the rain outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of July 2. When Wang’s motorcade arrived, they held banners that read: “Stop Forced Organ Harvesting,” and “Falun Dafa Is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Is Good.” The protest continued the following morning. Wang’s motorcade passed by their banners when he traveled to and from the palace.

The police assisted practitioners in adjusting their location to ensure better visibility for the motorcade. When Chinese personnel attempted to block the banners and demanded the group leave, the police immediately intervened, and clearly stated that the practitioners had the right to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression under the law. The police helped optimize the protest location based on the motorcade’s route. In addition to Falun Gong practitioners, there were people protesting the CCP’s suppression in Tibet.

Major Danish media outlets, including Politiken, TV2, and DR broadcasting company, reported on the protests, highlighting the overall peaceful nature of the event and the presence of police and media. After the event concluded, a young passerby said practitioners’ persistent efforts deeply moved and inspired him, and he offered them his best wishes.

Protest Near the Swedish Government Building

Wang visited Sweden on July 4 and talked with Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard at Rosenbad. Practitioners protested near the government building and called on the international community to help stop the CCP’s human rights abuses.

Practitioners held banners in a police-designated area so Wang could clearly see them after the meeting.

Practitioners also told police officers on duty about CCP’s human rights abuses. The police said they understood practitioners were there to express their views in a peaceful and rational manner, and that Swedish law guarantees freedom of speech and the right to demonstrate; their duty is to ensure this right is upheld, they were not there to restrict them.

Media reporters and local residents talked with practitioners. After the crew filmed the protest a reporter gave practitioners a thumbs-up and made a V sign. A local resident said the protest was the most peaceful and meaningful demonstration he’d ever seen.

Many tourists were in the area due to the proximity to the municipal center. They talked with practitioners and were shocked at the CCP’s persecution and forced organ harvesting. Many signed the petition calling for an end to the human rights abuses.
