(Minghui.org) A man in Fuxin City, Liaoning Province, was sentenced to two and a half years on May 26, 2026, for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Mr. Zhang Yagang was arrested in 2025, for posting his calligraphy artwork on Kuaishou, a social media platform. He was later released on bail after posting a 2,000-yuan bond. The police submitted the case to the Fumeng County Procuratorate at an unknown time. He was then indicted.

Mr. Zhang appeared in the Fumeng County Court on May 25, 2026, and was sentenced to prison with a 5,000-yuan fine. The court refused to provide a copy of the verdict to his family, and urged them to talk to the court-appointed lawyer for further questions. When the family contacted the lawyer, he responded that the court was following the rule and that it was “illegal” for them to provide the verdict, adding that they would be held accountable for doing so.
