(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners in Bulgaria held a protest in front of the Chinese Embassy in Sofia on July 20, 2026, calling on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to stop its 27-year persecution of Falun Gong.

The CCP launched the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, and practitioners around the world have held peaceful protests to commemorate the date every year since.

During the Chinese Embassy in Bulgaria’s public reception hour, Falun Dafa practitioners gathered in front of the building to call for an end to the persecution and pay tribute to the unwavering resolve and resilience of practitioners in China.

A gong that sounded over a loudspeaker kicked off the protest at 10:30 a.m.

A woman stopped to learn about the protest and said she was outraged by the CCP’s crimes against Falun Gong. “Good for you to stand up for such a difficult cause,” she told a practitioner. She also suggested reaching out to the US embassy for support.

Georgi, a Falun Gong practitioner, traveled to Sofia from Varna, a city more than 250 miles away.

“For me, July 20 represents the determination and resilience of Falun Gong practitioners, who do not yield to the pressure of the Chinese Communist regime,” Georgi said. “Practitioners around the world are raising public awareness to the regime’s repression in China.”

“I am here for the peaceful appeal. We are also paying tribute to those who have died as a result of the persecution and calling on the Chinese regime to end it immediately,” Georgi said.

Practitioners collected signatures on a petition to end the CCP’s forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, during an activity in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia in the late afternoon.

More than 250 miles away, in the seaside city of Varna, Falun Dafa practitioners held an information day on July 20 to raise awareness about the persecution of the spiritual group in China.
