(Minghui.org) A 69-year-old man in Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province, has been reduced to skin and bones while serving time for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Wang Guiling, born in November 1956, was arrested on April 14, 2024. He appeared in the Linghai City Court on November 20, 2024, and was sentenced to five years and fined 7,000 yuan. He appealed with the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court but lost. His pension was also suspended.
Having been diagnosed with diabetes at the Jinzhou City Detention Center, Mr. Wang was still admitted to the Panjin Prison and then transferred to the Jinzhou Prison on May 23, 2025.
Because Mr. Wang refused to plead guilty and did Falun Gong exercises in the prison, the guards restricted him from buying daily necessities. He wasn’t allowed to buy any extra food, even though the prison provided him with very little to eat. His weight quickly dropped as a result.
In June 2026, the guards put Mr. Wang in solitary confinement for 20 days. He was sleep-deprived and starved. His access to the restroom was also limited.
When his family visited him in July 2026, they were devastated to find that he had lost another 10 lbs since their last visit one month prior. His cheeks were sunken and his arms were as thin as sticks. He was dispirited and in a very poor mental state. His family was very worried about him.
