Falun Gong Rally and March in Frankfurt to Expose the Persecution Met with Kindhearted Support

Aug. 16, 2026 |   By Minghui correspondents in Germany

(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners held rallies and marches in Frankfurt on August 7 and 8, 2026. They had a rally on Hauptwache on August 7 and at Römerberg, the site of the City Hall, on August 8. The performances by the European Tian Guo Marching Band, waist drum team, and dragon dance team drew many spectators.

Practitioners introduced Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and raised awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution and state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting. Upon learning about the human rights abuse, people signed the petition calling for it to end.

In the rally, a practitioner read out the letter from Oliver StirböckMember of the Hessian State Parliament for the Free Democratic Party (FDP) and Parliamentary Whip of the FDP. He stated, “We must not accept people being persecuted for their faith, their convictions, or their peaceful advocacy for freedom. We must not accept people being surveilled, intimidated, imprisoned, mistreated, and deprived of their livelihoods. And we must not accept a communist regime attempting to control not only people’s actions but also their thoughts and beliefs.”

He added, “Your rally draws public attention to matters that the Chinese Communist Party seeks to conceal—specifically, the suffering of its victims. You give a voice to those whom the Party aims to silence. You demonstrate that intimidation and oppression will not go unchallenged.

“For this, I offer you my sincere thanks, my appreciation, and my solidarity.”

“Rest assured: I stand firmly by your side.”

Rally Draws Support and Interest in Falun Gong

People learn about Falun Gong. (Minghui.org)

Patrick works in an airport and was happy to see the practitioners’ rally. He remarked on the “friendly and approachable” atmosphere, noting that nowadays, when walking down the street, people seem like strangers—aloof and making absolutely no eye contact. In contrast, the atmosphere here was memorable: “wonderful and lively.”

He said that he was interested in Falun Gong and would go to the Frankfurt practice site. Talking about Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, he said if people did not follow them, there would be a disaster: “It is not a disaster stemming from external or political sources, but purely a disaster between human beings. It is a decline of the spirit, a regression of intellectual acuity, and a draining of energy.

“Imagine a scenario where we face no problems—no wars or political strife—and everything has become more peaceful. Yet, in the absence of these principles [Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance] people are more inclined to pursue money and leisure, while the one thing missing is a sincere heart.”

When he learned that the CCP has been persecuting Falun Gong for 27 years, he was appalled and said, “The Chinese (CCP) government feels it must suppress the populace. The public is not allowed to stage protests or hold dissenting views. Everything must be aligned [with the CCP]. That is my understanding of this system—a flawed and terrible system.”

He signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution. “I have known how it [the CCP] operates in China—how it treats human rights, or rather, the complete absence of human rights,” he said. He also knew the CCP’s forced organ harvesting: “I know this. It is terrible.”

He supported the practitioners’ efforts to raise awareness of the CCP’s persecution: “Undoubtedly, doing so is very important. If you aren’t willing to do it yourself, then it will be difficult for others to have the opportunity to pass on this information.”

Therefore, he voiced support for the practitioners being persecuted in China: “I hope they are not forgotten, and that the outside world pays more attention to them, letting them know they are not alone.”

IT Coordinator: This Is My Moral Obligation

Harald Schmidt, an IT coordinator (Minghui.org)

Harald Schmidt rode his bike past the Hauptwache and was drawn to the rally. He signed the petition and expressed concern about the CCP’s forced organ harvesting. He said, “I am absolutely shocked that such a thing exists. I believe that organized organ trafficking deserves the strongest possible condemnation.” He said that supporting practitioners in their efforts to expose the persecution was his moral obligation.

Talking about the rally and the European Tian Guo Marching Band’s performance, he said, “This is truly a moment where so many wonderful things come together. The sunshine is brilliant, and the crowds on the street have arrived at the perfect moment. I hope tonight brings a positive response for them.”

About the CCP’s 27-year persecution, he said, “I’m stunned. This is yet another fact we had absolutely no idea about. To use Germany as an analogy, it would be like someone telling me, ‘Hey, for the past 40 years, anyone in Bavaria who performed the Schuhplattler dance or wore traditional folk costumes got beaten up.’”

Hope More People Follow Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance

Natalie who works nearby praised the rally. “It is truly amazing. The music is like a German folk festival—it really stands out.” She said the atmosphere there is “both peaceful and calming.”

Talking about the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, she said, “I think they are great. Even though I’m not a practitioner, I strive to follow these three principles in my daily life. I find it very appealing. I’m going to look it [Falun Dafa] up online—these three principles are great.”

Natalie said that the event was very good and people were paying attention to it. “It is good to raise public awareness.” “I hope more people to follow the three principles and learn about them. I hope that Chinese people can have a better life.”

Former East German: Fortunately I Came Here

Thomas, a former East German resident (Minghui.org)

Thomas works for a well-known social welfare and charitable service organization that is affiliated with the German Christian Church. When he passed through the Römerberg, he saw information on the CCP’s forced organ harvesting and said, “Forced organ harvesting and lack of freedom of speech are truly awful. I want to speak out because I may face a similar situation.”

He signed the petition and said he came to Hesse from East Germany with his parents one year before the collapse of the Berlin Wall. The East German regime persecuted his parents and he was also given medication that caused him harm, resulting in lasting disabilities that persist to this day.

Talking about the CCP’s persecution, he said, “This [CCP] is paranoid, pure paranoid. The Communist Party fears being replaced—it’s as simple as that.”

Thomas said he really loves live music and dance because “It’s wonderful here. Democracy was born in Germany. It’s a great place, and the weather is lovely, too. “Music is my life, and this is fantastic.” He said he was deeply moved by the event and added, “I almost didn’t make it here [Frankfurt] today—thank goodness I did.”
