(Minghui.org) An 83-year-old woman in Kaili City, Guizhou Province was seized at home on June 5, 2026. The police claimed that Ms. Lu Baozhen had been sentenced to three years for practicing Falun Gong. However, neither she nor her family has received any official verdict yet.

Ms. Lu, a retired senior forestry engineer, was arrested earlier in mid-November 2015 for raising awareness about the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Due to her high blood pressure, she was released on bail. Meanwhile, the police still submitted her case to the local procuratorate.

Ms. Lu was tried on March 23, 2026. She testified in her own defense, but the judge constantly interrupted her. After the hearing, agents of the Kaili City 610 Office began to monitor her daily life. Whenever she went out, they would call her and demand an explanation. The police also came a few times to check on her.

Four police officers arrested Ms. Lu at home on June 5, 2026, and said she had been sentenced to three years. She has been held at the Kaili City Detention Center since.

Past Persecution

Ms. Lu, born on December 12, 1942, took up Falun Gong in June 1995, shortly after she was diagnosed with liver cancer. She soon regained her health and returned to work at the Kaili City Forestry Research Institute. After the CCP ordered the persecution in 1999, she remains firm in her faith and has been repeatedly targeted.

Ms. Lu had her home ransacked between June and July 2001 and was detained for 15 days. Two female officers watched her at night, while two male officers took turns interrogating her during the day. Her family was extorted 1,500 yuan when she was released.

Ms. Lu was arrested again in October 2002, prior to the CCP’s 16th Congress. She was first held at a brainwashing center and then transferred to a shelter. She was detained for nearly 100 days and released in January 2003, a few days before the Chinese New Year. Her family was extorted 600 yuan this time.

Ms. Lu was arrested another time in 2003, after she was reported for talking about Falun Gong during the annual year-end meeting at work. She was detained for 15 days.

Following another arrest in October 2004, Ms. Lu was held at a brainwashing session and watched by people around the clock. She had to ask for permission if she needed to use the restroom. Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, she was detained for 100 days and forced to pay 5,000 yuan as the “class fee.”

For doing Falun Gong exercises in Jinzhu Town with other practitioners on March 15, 2012, Ms. Lu was arrested again. The police collected her fingerprints and took photos of her. As she refused to tell them her name and address, she was held at a drug rehab center for 15 days.

Ms. Lu was arrested again around July 2014, after being reported for raising awareness about the persecution. The police took photos of her and collected her blood sample and fingerprints. She was released the next afternoon.

Since that point on, the police often harassed her during major holidays or anniversaries related to Falun Gong.
