(Minghui.org) Two women in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, are facing prosecution because they practice Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Qiao Xinghua, 81, and Ms. Yin Yuhua were arrested in late May 2026, while talking to people about Falun Gong at Laodong Park. The arresting officers from the Qilu Police Station gave both of them 15 days of administrative detention, but didn’t enforce it due to their advanced ages.
Several plainclothes officers from the Tiexi District Domestic Security Office and the Qilu Police Station broke into Ms. Qiao’s home around 11 a.m. on June 11, 2026. They ransacked her home without producing their IDs or a search warrant. They also did not provide a list of the items they confiscated.
Ms. Qiao was traumatized and had a heart attack. The Shenyang City Detention Center refused to accept her. Instead of releasing her, the police took her to the hospital. She was watched by four officers during her two-week stay. After she was discharged, she was directly taken to the Shenyang City First Detention Center.
Ms. Yin was taken back into custody on the same day and also put in the Shenyang City First Detention Center.
Ms. Qiao was quickly indicted by the Dadong District Procuratorate and is now facing trial by the Dadong District Court.
Ms. Yin’s case status is unclear.
Ms. Qiao’s husband, in his 80s, was also terrified by the police raid. He was depressed and suffered several heart attacks following Ms. Qiao’s arrest. His family hired a caregiver to look after him.
