(Minghui.org) By 2007, my organs were failing, and I had lost hope. It was then that I began practicing Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong). After about six months, all of my ailments were gone. Eighteen years have passed, and I have had no need to see a doctor or take a single pill. I feel completely healthy and free of illness!
The recent typhoons and other disasters have made my heart feel very heavy. I have realized just how small and powerless a human being can be in the face of disasters.
Out of compassion, I would like to say a few words to those who do not know the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution, and to those practitioners who still pursue fame, gain, and desires. I hope they all can gain salvation through Dafa, just as I have.
Hardship and Ill Health
I am the youngest of five siblings in my family. From the time I started to understand things as a toddler, I knew to be considerate of my parents. When I was in primary school, because I made good grades, the school rewarded me with either money or stationery. I would usually give the money to my parents and never dare to spend it on myself, because I knew how difficult it was for them to support us. During school holidays, I worked hard making handicrafts to earn money, doing my best to share the burden with my parents. My relatives and friends thought I was a very thoughtful little girl.
My father was the youngest of three brothers. My eldest uncle was the village Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary, and my grandparents were afraid of him and his wife. When the three brothers divided up the family property, my father got nothing. You could say that he was left with nothing to his name.
Because he had been so haunted by poverty, my father became a miser. By the time I was in middle school, our family’s financial situation had already improved, and they had even built a new house. However, my parents never bought me clothes or shoes. I had to wear my older brothers and sisters’ hand-me-downs, and everything had been patched again and again.
I always had to walk to school barefoot. My middle school was in the nearby town, quite far away, but my parents wouldn’t buy me a bicycle, so I had to walk. The worst thing at school was sports class. The athletic track was covered with sand and small stones, and whenever I had to run the 100-meter sprint or the 5,000-meter long-distance run, the little stones would dig into the soles of my feet, causing excruciating pain.
My teachers and classmates looked down on me. Even the poorest students in my class had parents who could afford to buy them a pair of inexpensive cloth shoes. I was the only one in the entire class who went to school barefoot.
I asked my parents several times to buy me a pair of cloth shoes, but they always refused. Even my relatives and neighbors said to them, “Buy the child a pair of shoes!” But they never did. I eventually developed low self-esteem and became isolated.
When I was 24, I entered into a marriage arranged by my parents. I had thought that, even though my own parents had never given me any warmth, perhaps I would find love and a sense of belonging in my new family. My father-in-law had been in the military and was very loyal to the Party. He was also violent.
When my husband was a child, he and his younger brother liked to play on the beach, but his father didn’t approve. When they came home, his father would tie him up and beat him. Sometimes, he would even tie him to a post and beat him.
After my husband started working, his mother collected his wages, giving him only a little spending money. A few months before we got married, he went to the payroll department himself to collect his wages. When his father found out, he punched him in the face.
As a result of this prolonged abuse and domination, my husband was very fearful of his parents and developed a timid and weak personality.
After we married, my mother-in-law often spoke badly about me in front of my father-in-law and their relatives, friends, and neighbors, and my father-in-law frequently berated me over minor things. That led to their neighbors, friends, and relatives looking down on me. I really wanted to divorce my husband, but seeing how pitiful he was, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. So I endured it and carried on, and then my daughter was born.
When my daughter was about eight months old, I was washing dishes in the kitchen while my daughter was in the living room with my father-in-law, who was getting ready to go to work. My daughter started to cry and wanted to go with him, so he called me to come and get her.
Because my hands were wet, I wanted to dry them first, but my father-in-law thought I was taking too long, so he swatted my daughter on her backside. I heard her crying as if she could hardly breathe.
I rushed out of the kitchen, picked her up, and saw the bright red imprint of his hand on her bottom. In tears, I asked my father-in-law why he had hit her so hard. She was only a little baby and had been very weak and frequently ill since she was born.
My father-in-law didn’t show even the slightest remorse. Instead, he glared at me and even tried to slap my face. My heart was pounding and I was trembling with anger.
I later told my husband what had happened, but he was so afraid of his parents that he didn’t dare bring it up. As a result, my parents-in-law became even more abusive toward the three of us.
When I was pregnant with my second child, my parents-in-law relentlessly pressured me to have an abortion. They were very concerned about saving face. My mother-in-law had just retired, and if she refused to help take care of my children, she would not be able to explain her behavior to our relatives and friends. I lost any hope I’d had of a loving family and was full of resentment for them.
Problems with my health then started to surface, such as chronic pharyngitis, chronic rhinitis, stomach ulcers, arrhythmia, breast lumps, a slipped disc, and gynecological issues. For the next 11 years, I went from one doctor to another.
By 2007, I was suffering from total organ failure and had reached my limit.
Finding a New Life in Dafa
When I felt there was no hope left, I decided to buy sleeping pills from different pharmacies and take them to end my life. But first my brother came to visit. I told him everything—all the hardships I’d been through and about my health. I wasn’t complaining or seeking sympathy, I just wanted to say goodbye. I wanted him to know how much I had suffered throughout my life and that if I were to die one day, it would be a form of release.
When my brother heard what I had been through, he broke down in tears. He said, “Why didn’t you ever tell me about any of this all these years?”
He began to help me look for renowned doctors, until, one day, he happened to run into a college classmate he had not seen in a long time. He hardly recognized him at first. The man was very strong and healthy-looking, with a radiant complexion, and even his personality had changed—he was optimistic and cheerful.
My brother remembered that, in college, this classmate had suffered from liver disease. He was thin, and his face was grayish, his complexion sallow. Apart from going to his classes, he spent most of his time in his dormitory room boiling traditional Chinese herbal medicine; he rarely socialized. People were afraid of him, because they worried his liver disease might be contagious.
When my brother asked him how he had improved so much, he said that he had regained his health by practicing Falun Gong. My brother was very surprised and asked, “My younger sister is in very poor health. Can she practice it, too?”
His classmate replied, “Of course!” My brother asked how, and he said, “First, read the book, and then simply do the exercises.”
So my brother borrowed a copy of Zhuan Falun and an exercise instruction video from another practitioner.
I had been doing the exercises for about six months, when I realized that all my ailments had disappeared. Eighteen years have passed since then, and I have never needed to see a doctor or take a single pill. At last, I experienced how comfortable and wonderful it felt to be completely free from illness!
Master’s teachings were like a warm current that melted my heart that had been frozen for so long, like a clear spring that washed away the hatred in my heart and allowed my innate goodness to reawaken. His teachings were like a universal key that unlocked memories I had long kept buried, helping me realize that the true self did not come into this world to pursue fame, wealth, and worldly gain, but to cultivate through hardship, return to one’s true nature, and find the way back to one’s origin.
Master’s teachings are like a guiding light, leading me along a path of brightness, step by step, and guiding me forward so that I will never lose my way.
I began to care more about my parents and my parents-in-law. Whenever there was something good to eat at home, I would ask my husband to take some to them. I would often ask what they liked to eat, and I would buy it for them.
When the weather turned cold, I would ask if they needed new sweaters, thermal underwear, or blankets. If they felt unwell, I would ask my husband to drive them to see a doctor. Sometimes, I would also take them on holidays or to visit relatives, so they could get out, relax, and enjoy themselves.
When my father passed away, he left my mother with about 400,000 yuan in savings. He had accumulated it over his lifetime by living frugally, and saving what we, his children, had given him.
My mother said that she did not know how to manage the money and wanted to entrust it to one of her four children. That was when my second-eldest brother, who had misunderstood the most Dafa in the past, suggested that I should take care of it because I practiced Falun Dafa and he believed that I would not misuse it. My oldest brother and his wife readily agreed.
My mother gradually began to feel remorse as well. She realized that she should not have treated me the way she did in the past. She even wanted to give me one of her jade bangles, saying that it was very precious, her most valuable possession.
I told her, “Your jade bangle may be precious to you, but it means very little to me. Eighteen years ago, if it wasn’t for Falun Dafa, I would have gone to hell.” My mother understood that the reason I am healthy now and sincerely treat them well is entirely because of Master’s compassionate salvation. She also quit the CCP and often recites, “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is good.”
Over the years, almost everyone in my extended family has understood that Dafa is good, and they have all quit the CCP.
Conclusion
I would like to say a few words to those who still do not understand the truth about Falun Dafa and the persecution. I hope you will set aside any prejudices and take the time to learn about Falun Dafa. I sincerely hope that, as I have, you find something beneficial in it.
I would also like to say something to those who have ulterior motives: You spread rumors that Master is living a life of luxury in the United States. If he really could live the kind of life you claim, I would be very happy. You spread rumors that Master is amassing wealth. If he were to ask me for money, I would be pleased to give him everything I own.
Eighteen years ago, I spent on average about 3,000 yuan a month on medical expenses. At that time, I was almost on the verge of losing both my family and livelihood. Since I began practicing Dafa, my health has improved tremendously. The 3,000 yuan a month that I once spent on medical bills I have been able to save. I have also been able to continue working and earning money to support my family. I have even been able to buy a house and a car.
All of this is what Master has given me. In light of this, it would not be enough for me to give him everything I have.
Now I have a happy family, and the spiritual richness I have gained is something that cannot be measured with money. Moreover, Master has millions of Dafa disciples. If each of them were to give him just a few yuan, Master could instantly become a billionaire. Would there really be any need for him to “amass wealth?”
I would also like to say something to those practitioners who pursue fame, gain, and worldly desires: Fame and gain are temporary, while inner peace and good health can benefit us throughout our lives. Life is short, and being able to learn Dafa is a great blessing.
I suggest that all of you take some time to calm your minds and read all of Master’s teachings. Master is giving you one final opportunity, and millions of your fellow practitioners also hope that you will find your way back.
