(Minghui.org) Six police cruisers and one ambulance were dispatched to Ms. Wang Chaoying’s home in Yanqing District, Beijing at around 8:30 a.m. on August 30, 2026. She was put in the ambulance and tightly restrained on the stretcher.
Upon her family’s strong protest, the police allowed them to put long pants and a jacket on her. The elderly woman was then driven to the Changping District Detention Center. She was admitted to the Tuanhe Prison on September 2, to serve a 2.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang’s family received a notice from the prison on September 5 saying that she was assigned to the twelfth division and that they could visit her on either Thursday or Friday after September 16. According to an insider, she went on a hunger strike in protest.
Ms. Wang was initially arrested on October 6, 2020, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials at a tourist attraction. Due to her poor health, she was placed under house arrest after her trial on April 20, 2021. Ten days later, the Yanqing District Court sentenced her to two and a half years with a 5,000-yuan fine.
While she was allowed to postpone serving time, the Yanqing District Court made multiple attempts to incarcerate her, but she was deemed unfit for detention every time.
Several court clerks showed up at her home on November 8, 2023, but were unable to take her into custody.
Agents from the Yanqing District Domestic Security Office arrested Ms. Wang and her husband on September 23, 2024. The Changping District Detention Center declined to admit her, and she was released the next day. Her husband was detained for 15 days.
The court tried again on May 15, 2026, and still failed to put Ms. Wang in jail.
After another failed attempt on July 2, 2026, Zhang Zhixiang, president of the court’s criminal division, resorted to a deceit tactic. He told Ms. Wang’s family that the court only needed her to undergo another physical exam in order to process the paperwork for her to serve time outside of prison.
On August 28, 2026, the deputy chief of the Yanqing District Police Department, the vice president of the Yanqing District Court, and the vice prosecutor of the Yanqing District Procuratorate showed up at Ms. Wang’s home and ordered her to go with them for a physical exam. She refused to comply, and they contacted her children.
The officials forced Ms. Wang’s family to take her for a physical exam the next day. Her loved ones witnessed the authorities instructing the healthcare workers to forge her medical records.
Her blood pressure was measured three times, the last time with a systolic blood pressure reading of nearly 200 mmHg (a normal range is 120 or lower). Yet the nurse put down 160 mmHg in her report to meet the detention requirements. Her final report indicated that she had high blood pressure and a slipped disc but everything else was normal, even though she also struggled with lung, stomach, and blood diseases.
Ms. Wang was allowed to return home on August 29, 2026, only to be taken into custody the next day to serve the 2.5-year term given in 2021. She previously served three forced labor terms totaling six and a half years between 2002 and 2009, also for her faith in Falun Gong.
