At a special viewing of the documentary, followed by a panel discussion, the congressman expressed the need to cherish and bravely defend freedom of religion and speech.
“Allowing the persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners in China to continue sets an unhealthy precedent globally. It says that we can accept to live in a world where regimes can torture and kill its own citizens without consequence.”
At practitioners' events in Kuala Lumpur, a new practitioner said, “This is not only a persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners, but also a test of humanitarianism.”
Local officials attended the rally and condemned the persecution and transnational repression. Many signed a petition to end the human rights abuses.
At the activities in Wellington, one passerby commented that this is not a political issue but a fundamental human rights issue and that every person’s life deserves respect.
