(Minghui.org) Sixteen women were admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in late March 2023 for their faith in Falun Gong. They included Ms. Jin Xiaomei, Ms. Kong Ying, Ms. Liu Qingfang, Ms. Yu Chunmei, Ms. Zhang Yingling, Ms. Yang Fengying, Ms. Liang Shujie, Ms. Kang Guiyun, Ms. Guo Shufen, Ms. Sun Lijuan, Ms. Cui Feng, Ms. Tan Huali, Ms. Guo Peilu, Ms. Song Xiaomei, Ms. Li Chenying, and Ms. Yu Shoufen.

They were subjected to months-long intensive brainwashing in Division 12 before being reassigned to other divisions. One of them recently wrote to Minghui about her and the other women’s suffering. It is unclear what her prison term was or whether she’s still being jailed at the time of writing.

I was admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison in late March 2023. Fifteen other practitioners, most of whom in their 60s, were moved to the prison around the same time from other facilities across the province.

The sixteen of us were held at the newly-admits team for a few days before being assigned to Division 12 on April 3, 2023. The prison guards put us in different rooms and assigned inmates to monitor us. I was held in a cell at the end of the hallway on the first floor, with three inmates monitoring me. They forced me to stand still for long hours. They did not allow me to sleep or use the restroom. They also bombarded me with propaganda slandering Falun Gong. Guard Gao Xinjing also instructed the monitors to play videos smearing Falun Gong before my eyes.

I was moved to another cell on April 6 and stayed there until April 13, 2023. During those few days, I often saw a gray-haired woman, one of the sixteen of us, being forced to write something. She was not allowed to sleep. Liu Xiaoxue, one of the woman’s monitors, noticed I was staring at them one morning and turned her body to block my view. I learned later that the practitioner was named Yang Fengying, who was serving a 2.5-year term after two previous forced labor terms totaling five years.

[Editor’s note: Ms. Yang herself once recounted her suffering after she was released in July 2024. She said she was deprived of sleep and once forced to stand for five straight days (see the related reports for details).]

The sixteen of us were reassigned to the second floor in Division 12 on April 13, 2023. Each of us was put in a separate cell and monitored by two inmates around the clock. I remember Ms. Yang was in room 207. Guard Gao told Han Yuling, one of her monitors, that “This old woman [Ms. Yang] is extremely selfish and none of her family members wants to have anything to do with her.”

Han then spread the rumor to everyone. It was really cruel for guard Gao to defame Ms. Yang with such despicable means.

The sixteen of us, together with two other practitioners (Ms. Cui Jing and Ms. Zhang Hui, who were admitted in May 2023), were moved to the first floor on June 1, 2023 and put in three different cells. Ms. Yang was in room 107. In mid-June 2023, the guards moved us back to the second floor, putting us each in a different cell and assigning different inmates to watch us.

The frequent change of detention cells and monitors was intended to not allow any inmates to stay with the same practitioners for too long.

On June 30, 2023, the eighteen of us were taken to the guards’ office. A person from the local judicial bureau and a guard were there to evaluate our “transformation performance” [whether or not we had agreed to renounce and denounce Falun Gong]. A camera was set up to film everything.

We were then subjected to daily group brainwashing sessions. On July 18, 2023, fifteen of us, myself included, were reassigned to other divisions. We were not told who were sent where. The three practitioners who had less than one year left on their terms, including Ms. Kong, Ms. Guo Shufen, and Ms. Guo Peilu, were kept at Division 12.

Division 12 was a totally isolated environment designed to block the persecution of practitioners from leaking to other parts of the prison or the outside world. While there, we would be reprimanded if we even casually glanced over at other cells.
