(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 11 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 16 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Mr. Wu Wenzhang Hospitalized due to Abuse in Prison
Mr. Wu Wenzhang was arrested on June 9, 2017, and sentenced to eleven years by the Changli County Court in January 2019. While serving time at the Baoding Prison, he was subjected to brutal torture and was hospitalized around March 2025.
2. [Tonghua City, Jilin Province] Ms. Cheng Shumei Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Cheng Shumei and her sister-in-law, Ms. Ge from Liuhe County, were arrested by the local police on March 1, 2024. Ms. Cheng was held in Tonghua City Detention Center and later sentenced to four years by the Liuhe County Court. She is serving time in Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Ms. Ge was given a probation term and is ordered to report regularly to the local police.
3. [Haicheng City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Xiuyu Arrested
Ms. Wang Xiuyu was arrested by officers from Nantai Town Police Station on March 6, 2025. The police broke into her home the next morning and ransacked the place. They confiscated her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and a printer. The Lishan District Procuratorate approved her arrest on March 18, 2025. She is being held in Anshan City First Detention Center.
4. [Chongqing] Ms. Zeng Yunhui Arrested
Ms. Zeng Yunhui was arrested on January 21, 2025, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials. She is being held in the Banan District Detention Center. Her arrest was approved by the Jiulongpo District Procuratorate on February 28.
5. [Laiyang City, Shandong Province] Practitioner Ji Changlian Arrested
Practitioner Ji Changlian, from Chengqu City, a county-level city in Laiyang City, was distributing Falun Gong materials to people in a park on March 25, 2025. A person recorded Ji using his cell phone and reported it to the police. Ji was arrested by officers from Wenhua Road Police Station and is being held in Yantai Detention Center.
6. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Four Practitioners Lose Appeals Against Wrongful Sentences
Four practitioners were sentenced to prison by the Linghai City Court on December 30, 2024. Ms. Wang Guiling, 69, was sentenced to five years and fined 7,000 yuan; Ms. Meng Chunying, 53, and Ms. Liu Yurong, 63, was each sentenced to four and a half years and fined 6,000 yuan; and Ms. Liu Jingju, about 70 years old, was sentenced to two years and fined 4,000 yuan. They appealed to the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold their original verdicts on March 7, 2025.
7. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Yuan Junhua Admitted to Prison
Ms. Yuan Junhua was sentenced to three and a half years by the Shouguang City Court on September 19, 2024. She appealed to the Weifang City Intermediate Court, which ruled to uphold the original verdict on February 6, 2025. She was admitted to the Shandong Province Women’s Prison in the capital city of Jinan on March 20.
8. [Huangmei County, Hubei Province] Ms. Dai Meixia Arrested
Ms. Dai Meixia, from Xiaochi Town, went to visit her sister in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, on December 2, 2024. She was arrested on December 7, after someone reported her for distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential community. Eight plainclothes officers from the Nanyuan Police Station in Shenzhen City broke into her sister’s home and searched the place. They confiscated a laptop computer, a cell phone, more than 3,000 yuan in cash, a USB flash drive, and Falun Gong materials from Ms. Dai’s suitcase.
Ms. Dai was taken to the Futian District Detention Center in Shenzhen. The guards accepted her despite her high blood pressure. As her blood pressure continued to rise during her detention, the guards released her on bail on February 12, 2025.
9. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Zhang Yaming Suffers High Blood Pressure in Prison
Ms. Zhang Yaming was taken to Liaoning Province Women’s Prison on January 9, 2025, to serve a two-year term. Because the prison guards did not allow her family to visit her, they had to hire a lawyer after hearing that she was suffering from high blood pressure due to the abuses. According to the lawyer who visited her on March 20, 2025, she said she felt much better and less pressured with the visit.
10. [Panjin City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Chang Qingzhi Detained for 16 Days
Ms. Chang Qingzhi from Xinglongtai District was arrested and her home ransacked on the afternoon of March 10, 2025. She was held at the Panjin City Third Detention Center and was released on March 26.
11. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Kong Xiufang’s Home Ransacked
Ms. Kong Xiufang was harassed at home by officers from Gaoling Town Police Station in Mouping District on March 12, 2025. Her Falun Gong books and MP3 player were confiscated.
12. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Xiuge Arrested
Ms. Sun Xiuge was arrested by officers from the Badahu Police Station and the Shinan District Domestic Security Division on the morning of March 21, 2025. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books, photos of the founder of Falun Gong, and four audio players. She was released that evening.
