A Daxing’anling Prefecture, Heilongjiang Province, resident, had passed away on April 17, 2019, in the persecution of her faith in Falun Gong, Minghui.org recently learned.

Ms. Qiao Yuhua, born in 1948, was arrested a total of seven times and served one forced labor camp term after the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. The local police fined her twice, each time for 500 yuan, without providing a receipt.

Several of Ms. Qiao’s arrests took place after midnight, which terrified her husband so much that he panicked every time he saw the police. Unable to cope with the tremendous mental distress, he died in 2009.

Ms. Qiao’s Seven Arrests

In September 1999, two months after the persecution started, Ms. Qiao went to Beijing to appeal and was arrested at Tiananmen Square. The police handcuffed her behind her back. She was taken back to Daxing’anling in the evening and detained at the Songling City Detention Center for two weeks.

Ms. Qiao was arrested in 2000 for doing the Falun Gong exercises at a public place. She was given a one-year forced labor term by the Songling City Police Department. She served four months at the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City and another two months at the Harbin City Drug Rehab Center. She was then released six months earlier.

Ms. Qiao’s third arrest was around June 2003 by officers from the Songling City Police Station, while she was putting up self-adhesive posters about Falun Gong. She escaped from the police station and was forced to live away from home to hide from the police. But as soon as she returned home six months later, officers from the Songling City Police Station came to arrest her and took her to the Songling City Detention Center. She refused to cooperate with the police interrogation and was released three days later.

Ms. Qiao and several other practitioners went to a nearby town to distribute Falun Gong materials one night in January 2004. They were arrested and interrogated overnight. The police beat them when they refused to answer questions. They were later taken to the Songling City Detention Center, where she was held for two weeks.

Among the practitioners, Mr. Bai Shijun developed uremia due to abuse in custody. He was in critical condition and died two months after he was released. His wife, Ms. Wang Wei, was later sentenced to four years. Two more practitioners, Ms. Cheng Fengying and Ms. Wang Guirong, were arrested again two months after being released and given forced labor camp terms. Ms. Zhang Yuwen developed diabetes due to the mental pressure; her health continued to decline over the years, and she died in May 2011.

Ms. Qiao was arrested again on December 5, 2004, by officers Wang Can’an and Liang Zhihai of the Xiaoyangqi Town First Police Station. She condemned them for persecuting her. They called in another ten officers to take her away.

Ms. Qiao’s sixth arrest was in 2006, together with two other practitioners, after they were reported for distributing Falun Gong materials in Jiagedaqi District. She escaped from the Jiagedaqi Detention Center in the evening. The other two practitioners were both given two years at the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City.

Ms. Qiao’s last arrest was on October 31, 2017. She was detained at the Jiagedaqi Detention Center for an unknown amount of time.

After Ms. Qiao was released, the police continued to harass her. She lived in fear and passed away on April 17, 2019.
