(Minghui.org) In 1998, after learning that my family members were practicing a type of qigong that wasn’t good, my eldest sister told us it was a harmful practice and that we should not pursue it. She then spoke of the profound goodness of Falun Dafa and suggested we try it. Consequently, I accompanied her to their local practice site to learn Falun Dafa. From that moment on, I became a Dafa practitioner—a journey that has now spanned more than 20 years. Under Master’s compassionate protection, I have continued to advance steadily on my cultivation path. Below, I respectfully submit to Master a report on some of my cultivation experiences at work and in daily life.
Cultivating Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance at Work and in Daily Life
I am a medical doctor, and it is common for patients to offer gifts to doctors or invite them out for meals. However, after I began to practice Falun Dafa, I stopped accepting gifts from patients altogether. For example, after a child recovered from tuberculosis complicated by impaired liver function, his mother insisted on giving me a set of bed sheets and some farm produce as a token of her gratitude when her son was discharged. I immediately replied, “I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. Our Master teaches us to be good and always put others’ needs first. You have already spent a considerable amount of money on your child’s hospitalization and treatment. I know how difficult life can be for people in the countryside, so please keep these items for your own use. Healing the sick and saving lives is simply my professional duty. If you need any follow-up appointments, please feel free to come back and see me.” She was deeply moved.
Our hospital had a small satellite clinic off-site, which operated under a private contract. The contractor had an unspoken practice of inflating their invoices, billing for amounts higher than the actual cost of services, in order to generate more profit. My cousin asked me several times to help him issue these fraudulent invoices so that his wife, an accountant, could process them for reimbursement, thereby allowing them to pocket the difference. I explained to him, “You know that I practice Falun Dafa. The very first principle I cultivate is ‘Truthfulness.’ Helping you issue fake invoices would be a violation of both truthfulness and moral integrity—it would harm both you and me. Please try to understand, by refusing to help you with this, I am actually acting in your best interest, while also upholding the integrity of my own faith.” He never requested it again.
When doctors seek a professional title promotion, their score on the English exam accounts for a percentage of the overall evaluation. The first time I took the English exam, I failed it. The second time I was to take it, a classmate offered to help me, saying he could use his connections to arrange things with the proctors and reviewers. He said all I had to do was show up for the exam and simply copy someone else’s answers. Even if I technically failed, they would ensure that I received a passing grade so I could secure my promotion. I was somewhat tempted, but then I immediately realized this was wrong. To copy from others for the sake of fame and personal gain would be an act of fraud and deception—a direct violation of Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I politely declined my classmate’s kind offer and voluntarily gave up the opportunity for promotion.
On another occasion, a bank teller gave me an excess of 300 yuan in cash. As soon as I discovered the mistake, I returned the entire amount without a moment’s hesitation. The teller expressed her deep gratitude, saying, “Thank you so much! Otherwise, I would have had to personally cover that 300 yuan loss myself.”
In my daily life, I occasionally received counterfeit currency in various denominations—including 100, 50, 10, and five-yuan bills. When others learned of it, some suggested that I simply pass the fake money along to someone else. I replied, “I was the victim in this instance; to deceive and harm others for the sake of a trivial personal gain would be an act of wickedness. As cultivators, we must treat others with kindness and always put the well-being of others before our own.” I destroyed all the counterfeit bills.
When buying groceries, sometimes the vendor gave me too much change. I always went back and returned it, regardless of the amount. One fellow shopper saw this and remarked, “You really are a good person.” I told them that I practice Falun Dafa.
On another occasion, a patient was upset with his attending physician. He felt the doctor had taken advantage of him and bullied him for personal gain. He vented his fury on me, lashing out and berating me as well. I felt a twinge of anger inside. This matter had nothing to do with me, so why was he taking his frustration with his doctor out on me? However, I quickly reminded myself that I shouldn’t stoop to his level. He was a patient, physically unwell, and in a foul mood, so his behavior was understandable. After I finished what I had to do, I spoke to him calmly and gently, “You suffer from high blood pressure, diabetes, and coronary heart disease. If you have an issue, let’s discuss it rationally. Don’t let anger get the better of you. If you let your blood pressure skyrocket or trigger a heart attack, you know the consequences—it simply isn’t worth it. Besides, all your medications are covered by insurance, so you aren’t actually paying much out of pocket anyway. Your life is what truly matters.”
As he was leaving, he said to me, “I’ve thought it over, and you’re right. Thank you! You’re absolutely right. That issue really wasn’t worth getting angry about. I shouldn’t have taken it out on you just now. I apologize. You truly are a good doctor.” From then on, when he saw me on the street, he happily said, “You really are a good doctor! I’ve improved my temper a great deal since then. I rarely get angry anymore.”
Using Truth-Clarification Currency to Save People
Truth-clarification currency has information printed on it about the widespread dissemination of Dafa, the Tiananmen Square self-immolation hoax, the CCP’s live organ harvesting, the “Hidden Character Stone,” and the message that withdrawing from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) brings safety, among other things. Truth-clarification currency has played a significant role in helping people learn the truth. Initially, I only used small denominations, one- or five-yuan notes, and folded the side with the text inward or mixed them in with regular bills to avoid being refused.
I did not dare use larger denominations. To overcome this fear, I used a crisp new 20 yuan truth-clarification bill to buy vegetables. The farmer noticed the text on the bill and asked, “Is this counterfeit money?”
I replied, “It’s real.”
As we stood at an impasse, several onlookers gathered around to see what the commotion was about. A young woman among them looked at it and said, “It is real money. It’s good money. It is valid currency.” Only then did the farmer feel reassured enough to accept it. I realized that Master was watching over me, encouraging me to use truth-clarification bills to save people. From that point on, I had the courage to use truth-clarifying currency in any denomination.
One day at work, a colleague asked me, “What is the meaning of the phrase ‘Withdrawing from the CCP brings safety’ that is written on this money? Why would one need to do that?” I clarified the truth about Dafa and the CCP’s atrocities to her in detail. Once she understood, she agreed to withdraw from the Youth League (one of the CCP’s youth organizations). This incident demonstrates just how effective truth-clarification currency is in saving people. It also shows that people in this world truly yearn to understand the truth and be saved.
I traveled back and forth between my home and a large city. While living in the large city, I never saw any truth-clarifying banners or materials there. Driven by a desire to help people understand the truth about Dafa, I used truth-clarification currency in residential complexes, supermarkets of all sizes, shops, and produce markets. Sometimes I took a bus to shops quite far from where I lived to use truth-clarification currency.
Eventually, my residential complex issued a notice: the use of Falun Dafa [truth-clarification] currency is prohibited, accepting it is forbidden, and allowing it to circulate is strictly forbidden.
Yet, I felt no fear and continued to use it for shopping. Before using it, I always asked Master to strengthen me, letting sentient beings come to understand the truth, and for the currency to circulate without any hindrance. The fact that my Falun Dafa truth-clarification currency wasn’t refused for many years demonstrates that people have indeed begun to awaken upon seeing the truth.
