(Minghui.org) A 66-year-old woman in Xinyang City, Henan Province, was arrested on June 10, 2026, and taken to the Xinyang City Detention Center to serve a 3.5-year term she was given in 2021 for her faith in Falun Gong.
The ordeal of Ms. Jin Yuling, a former school accountant, stemmed from her initial arrest on June 22, 2021. She appeared in the Huangchuan County Court on December 14, 2021, and was convicted on January 11, 2022.
While held at the Xinyang City First Detention Center, Ms. Jin suffered declining health due to the mental distress and physical abuse. She struggled with generalized pain. In February 2022, she discovered a lump in her breast. She requested to go to the hospital for a physical exam, but was denied. The guards only gave her some IV drips. They eventually took her to Xinyang City Cancer Hospital one week later, and the doctors there suggested she be hospitalized.
When Ms. Jin appeared in the Xinyang City Intermediate Court on April 26, 2022, for her appeals case, her family was devastated to see her pale face and sunken eyes. The appeals judge released her on six-month residential surveillance on April 29 and ruled on June 15, 2022, to uphold her original verdict.
On June 10, 2026, while shopping at a mall, Ms. Jin was arrested by Wang Jiyang and other officers from the Shihe Police Station. Even though she failed the physical exam required for detention again, the police still took her to the Xinyang City Detention Center. They delivered the trial court’s notice to her family the next day.
The court notice stated that Ms. Jin’s six-month residential surveillance was deducted from her prison term and that she must serve the remaining three years. Her term is expected to end in June 2029.
