(Minghui.org) Shen Yun Performing Arts returned to Toronto, Canada, from June 25–27, 2026, after six performances scheduled for March this year were canceled due to hoax bomb threats linked to the Chinese regime. Numerous Members of Parliament were in attendance to support the performing arts company in light of the ongoing transnational repression.

Member of Parliament Dan Muys saw Shen Yun in Toronto on June 27 and presented a certificate of recognition to Shen Yun artists.
“I wanted to be here in person to show solidarity with Shen Yun and with the Falun Dafa organization because of the threats that were made by the Beijing communist regime that caused this to be postponed after the first two performances,” Mr. Muys said. “That’s just wrong. And so it’s great to be back.”
“We can’t succumb to Chinese transnational repression. It’s inappropriate. That’s not who we are in Canada. We have freedom of expression, freedom of religion, freedom of culture.
“It’s really a performance for all senses, because you’ve got what you see in front of you, the beautiful sounds, and the screen, and how that’s integrated with the storytelling that’s going on. You’re looking in all directions.
“There’s a commonality from the divine, from the Creator of good and being good to one another and how we comfort our lives. And so that is expressed here through this message that’s being given in the Shen Yun performance.
“If we’re intimidated on our own streets and [in] our own country by foreign powers, we have to stand up and say, ‘These are the values we stand for. We stand for human rights.’” he said.
He told Shen Yun’s performers, “Notwithstanding any pressures that you’re feeling, or what you’re seeing happening around, you are living examples of the courage that we need to see and that all Canadians should be exhibiting. And certainly, we stand behind you in that.”

Member of Parliament Anna Roberts saw Shen Yun and presented a letter of support on June 27.
“This is my fifth time coming, and I’m always amazed by the beautiful costumes, the dancing, and all the acrobats. It’s just wonderful to see. It amazes me every single time. Such a pleasure to be here,” she said.
“I was here for the first one, and then they canceled the second one. This should not happen in Canada. It has returned. Thank goodness. Yes, thank goodness. That’s a good sign. That means that we’re doing something right.
“The spiritual aspect of the dance allows us to really think about what’s happening in the world today, and hopefully peace will come sooner than later,” Ms. Roberts said.
Ms. Roberts was struck by the soprano’s performance. “She was amazing. And the pianist, amazing—absolutely an amazing performance. It’s amazing to see how wonderful and talented they are.
“I’m Italian, as you know, and I love listening to that opera type of music,” she said. “So her soprano just accelerated, you could hear it throughout the whole room. Everybody applauded. They were so amazed, it was wonderful.”
“I want to say to them that I am very, very impressed with their performance, all of them. It takes a lot of people to do a performance like this. This is unbelievable,” she said.
“Absolutely Fabulous”
Philip Lawrence MP (first right) presented a congratulatory letter on June 27. (NTD)
Member of Parliament Philip Lawrence saw Shen Yun and presented a congratulatory letter on June 27.
“I love the message of the fact that we can’t let the day to day, the pop culture take over our lives. We need to focus on the bigger picture, things like forbearance, like compassion, and like kindness, right? They really should guide our ways,” he said.
“It’s spectacular, really. It’s gorgeous watching the new and the old come together. You’re seeing the classical, beautiful Chinese culture come to life in front of you. In addition to the animation, it’s beautiful, it’s just absolutely fabulous,” Mr. Lawrence said.
“The Show Must Go On”
Ned Kuruc MP (The Epoch Times)
Ned Kuruc MP saw Shen Yun on June 26. He drove more than an hour from Hamilton to show his support. He saw the performance this year in Hamilton in March and presented a support letter back then.
“As you can see, it’s a sold-out event on Friday. I’m sure every day will be sold out, so the community here in Toronto can enjoy what was originally supposed to happen a few months ago. It’s a very positive thing,” he said.
“The signal that this event is sending that it’s a very positive signal, so there might be some disruptors somewhere. But common sense prevails. When situations do arise, we have to get involved. This is Canada, we stand for freedom and democracy. So today shows that the show must go on.
“My parents came from socialism, and I understand how terrible it was. There’s a rich, rich history of China going back 5,000+ years, and to think it gets erased so quickly by communism is a shame. And this is a performance that lets people who don’t understand or might have not known that to peek into what it was like before. So it’s very positive,” he said.
“Congratulations to Shen Yun”
Andrea Hazell Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP)(NTD)
Andrea Hazell, MPP representing Scarborough—Guildwood, Ontario, saw Shen Yun on June 27. She also presented a congratulatory letter, which was her third time honoring Shen Yun.
“I know you were fighting back, I know you were pushing, and this is why we came to Canada—because it’s free, it’s democracy,” she said.
“Some of the issues that are happening in China right now that we’re all hearing about, I actually saw it displayed on stage.
“Congratulations to Shen Yun. We should not be sad about this. You fought, you won the battle, and here we are this evening. So, congratulations to you, and I’m going to be here many, many, many, many more years to come,” Ms. Hazell said.
