(Minghui.org) When I was under immense pressure due to some tribulations, I longed for the Fa-rectification to conclude and for the next phase of history to begin. When I recently had that thought again I opened Zhuan Falun and began reading, and this passage appeared,
“Though you find a person practicing qigong in a park, in reality, he is not truly cultivating. Though he wishes to cultivate toward a high level, he cannot make it without receiving the righteous way. He has only a desire to cultivate toward a high level. This person is still a qigong practitioner at the low level of healing and fitness. No one will change his path of life, so he will have illnesses.” (Lecture Six, Zhuan Falun)
I immediately realized that this passage of the Fa was pointing out my current state: I was just a “qigong practitioner.” I wanted to have my illness cured and improve my health: I was not truly cultivating.
A qigong practitioner is an ordinary person and lacks the ability to resolve tribulations. In contrast a cultivator possesses ability and energy—and Falun Dafa practitioners of the Fa-rectification period possess the powers of the Buddha Fa. Why did I become like an ordinary person again? It was because I wanted the persecution to end.
Master also told us:
“Genuine practice toward higher levels is in a state of wuwei and free of any mind activities.” (Lecture Eight, Zhuan Falun)
That evening when I opened my e-reader: “Greetings to the Dafa Disciples Attending the Fa Conference of Europe” appeared on the screen. I hadn’t read this lecture in a long time, and there was no record of it in the “Recently Read” section of my e-reader, yet there it was. I thought, “Perhaps I need to read this.”
After I finished reading I realized Master was guiding me to understand that, although I looked inward, I hadn’t done so deeply enough; my starting point was still self-interest. Practitioners are here to help Master save sentient beings—to be selfless and act for the sake of others.
Once I had the correct mindset, I noticed a significant change: my ability to send forth righteous thoughts became much more powerful. I’ve never been able to see the results of sending forth righteous thoughts, but over the past couple of days, through my third eye I saw the wicked specters of the Chinese Communist Party perishing in droves. The pressure I felt eased considerably.
I believe I was shown this so that I would be encouraged to send forth righteous thoughts frequently and fully utilize the abilities bestowed by Dafa to eliminate the interference. Practitioners must fulfill our responsibility, proactively eliminate evil, and help Master save sentient beings.
While writing this article, I revisited this passage from the teachings and was deeply moved. Although I cannot see Master, I always feel he’s watching over me. Looking back on my cultivation path, I realize that whenever I encountered major trials or tribulations, Master would—often in subtle ways—guide me to the relevant teachings, enlightening me to have righteous thoughts and overcome the ordeals.
The remaining time we have has been extended through Master’s immense endurance so we can help him save sentient beings. It’s also an opportunity for us to do our best to rectify areas where we have fallen short.
To cherish the little time remaining is to cherish ourselves and our own lives. If we do not use this time to make diligent progress in cultivation and do what we should do, but instead idly wait for it to end, are we still true cultivators?
