(Minghui.org) A married couple in Dalian City, Liaoning Province, had their home raided on August 11, 2026, because they practice Falun Gong. The husband remains detained at the time of this report.
Home Raid
Around 3 p.m. on August 11, 2026, five men and one woman showed up at Ms. Sun Qianyi’s home. They flashed a search warrant and restrained her in a room. The female officer watched her closely during the entire raid and followed her to the bathroom every time she needed to use it.
The five male officers raided Ms. Sun’s home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books, two computers, one printer, and other valuables.
The female officer demanded to know where Ms. Sun and her husband, Mr. Yu Xiangjia, kept the portrait of the founder of Falun Gong. Ms. Sun refused to tell her.
The female officer revealed that Mr. Yu had been arrested earlier that day, after he was reported for distributing Falun Gong materials while doing his delivery job. Only then did Ms. Sun realize why her husband hadn’t come home for lunch as usual that day.
Interrogation
After the raid, the police ordered Ms. Sun to get into their cruiser. When she refused the female officer shoved her in. She was driven to the Bayi Road Police Station. She tried to escape as soon as the car door was opened. Two male officers soon caught her, and one of them repeatedly bent her right wrist back. She screamed in pain, and her body twitched.
During the interrogation, Ms. Sun refused to answer any questions. She learned that the six arresting officers were from the Dalian City Police Department and its subordinate Xigang District Police Department. They borrowed the Bayi Road Police Station interrogation room to question her and her husband.
After the interrogation, Ms. Sun was released and told to “wait for a phone call at home.”
Ms. Sun received a registered mail from the Xigang District Police Department on August 13, 2026. The mail was a criminal detention notice issued for her husband. It alleged that Mr. Yu “used a cult organization to undermine law enforcement,” a standard pretext used to frame Falun Gong practitioners.
Mr. Yu is currently held at the Dalian City Detention Center.
Past Persecution
Prior to the latest persecution episode, Mr. Yu and his wife were repeatedly arrested in the past. He once served a four-year prison term (May 2019 – May 2023). After he was released, he worked as a delivery worker to make a living.
The couple’s daughter was also implicated and received harassment calls from the police from time to time. She didn’t dare to return to Dalian to visit her parents.
The police also harassed Mr. Yu’s widowed father, 83, many times. The older man suffered declining health as a result and was hospitalized multiple times. Mr. Yu’s parents-in-law both suffer from heart conditions. His latest persecution dealt them another blow.
