(Minghui.org) I began practicing Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) in 2001, soon after the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched the persecution.
I was illegally arrested and held at a brainwashing center. Because I hadn’t cultivated for a long time I had a shallow understanding of the Fa. My wife who also practiced was taken to a brainwashing center.
My mind was focused on personal interests and family matters—I was overwhelmed with worry about who would look after our family business and my father, who was in his 80s. So I gave in to the persecutors’ demands and signed a guarantee statement.
When I later intensified my Fa study, I learned to view issues from a cultivator’s perspective. I experienced some instances where things turned out exactly as I had wished. I am sharing these now so others will know how Master compassionately protects us.
Protected by Master
Two years later, I was again arrested, and sent to a brainwashing center. I was held there for three months. I refused to be "transformed," so they intensified the persecution.
A person raised his hand as if to strike me. I immediately shouted, “Master, help me! He is hitting me!” Before I finished speaking, he instead grabbed me by the collar, and shoved me, while yelling, “Who hit you? Who hit you? Who saw it?”
He muttered a few other things, and then walked away. Thanks to Master’s protection, he did not hit me.
Eye Injury Healed Overnight
In the early stages of my practice, while at work, I was using an oxy-acetylene torch to cut a sheet of iron. The metal was double-layered, and made up of a thin sheet soldered to a thicker sheet.
I hadn’t cleaned the surface dust off thoroughly, so didn’t realize it was double-layered, nor did I notice the solder between the two layers. I should have been wearing safety goggles.
When my cutting torch hit the area of the double-layered plate, the molten solder splashed into my eye, and I couldn’t open it.
I went to a nearby eye hospital, where the doctor said, “We can’t treat this here; you’ll have to go to the city hospital. Even if it heals your vision won’t fully recover.”
I asked, “Is there still something in my eye?”
“No, there isn’t,” the doctor said. “This is a burn, and it won’t heal easily.” He then used gauze and adhesive tape to bandage my eye.
My son was with me, and even he could see a pit burned into my eyeball.
I left the eye hospital, and went straight home instead of going to the other hospital. Then I rested for a while, before I tried to read Zhuan Falun. But as soon as I looked at the book, I had to move my eyes a little, and the pain in my eye made reading impossible.
Later, I realized that if I held my hand against my injured eye, I could read with my good eye. I don’t know how long I read like that before I fell asleep. By the time my wife and son came home, and woke me up, it was already dark outside.
After dinner, I went back to reading Zhuan Falun using the same method, and I eventually fell asleep.
When I woke up the next morning, I removed the gauze from my eye while washing my face, and found that my eye was healed. My son came over to take a look, and said, “The burn on your eyeball is gone.”
I recovered overnight, and my vision was just the same as before the injury. Thank you, Master! Thank you, Dafa!
Turning the Impossible Into Reality
My wife began practicing Dafa in 1999. In September 2003, she was sentenced to two years in a forced labor camp. Unable to see his daughter for so long, her father’s health deteriorated, and so did his mental state. He passed away in 2005 while my wife was still detained in the forced labor camp.
At the time, my only thought was to get my wife out of the labor camp—it was the perfect opportunity to secure her release, and allow her to see her father one last time. I said to her older brother, “Make me a copy of the death certificate; I’ll go to the labor camp and bring her back.”
He replied, “No need for a copy—just take the original with you. I’ll be waiting for you both. We’ll handle the arrangements once you bring her back.”
My son, my nephew, and I drove straight to the labor camp. When we arrived that morning to check in, an officer on duty asked, “Who are you here to see?”
“I’m here to pick up my wife!” I replied. “Her father passed away.” I then handed him the death certificate.
After looking it over, he picked up the phone and called someone, saying, “The family is here to pick up [my wife’s name]. Her father passed away. They brought the death certificate.”
Then he told us, “Go wait at the north gate!”
After we arrived at the main gate on the north side, a team leader responsible for my wife’s case came out. He said, “Just wait here. I’m going to process the paperwork, and you’ll be able to take her home today.”
I replied, “Alright, we’ll wait.”
When lunchtime arrived, the team leader said, “The paperwork isn’t finished yet—you’ll have to wait until this afternoon. I’ll deal with it then.”
We waited at the gate all afternoon, but the matter still wasn’t resolved. The team leader then said, “One of the supervisors is away, and we have to get his signature for the release paper, so you’ll have to wait until tomorrow. I’ll take care of it first thing in the morning. Find a nearby hotel to stay at for the night, and come back tomorrow morning. Just make sure you don’t arrive late.”
At 10 a.m. the next day, all the formalities were completed, and my wife was released. With Master’s help what seemed utterly impossible became a reality—my wife came home five months ahead of schedule.
Aligning With the Fa
Through these incidents that I encountered during my cultivation I realized that as long as one’s heart aligns with the Fa, Master arranges things and he helps us.
This includes the persecution. We can overcome the challenges, providing we look inward, cultivate ourselves, and ensure that every aspect of our conduct aligns with the Fa. The path of cultivation arranged by Master leads to successful completion; how well one cultivates is entirely up to the individual.
During cultivation, my xinxing (mind-nature) improved only slightly, but the effort Master has put in to help me is immense. The small amount of progress I’ve made is not equivalent to what Master has done for me. No words can fully express my gratitude—I can only strive to be diligent and cultivate well.
Without Master’s protection, we cannot accomplish anything. Every aspect of our improvement reflects the principle that “Cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while the transformation of gong is done by one’s master.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)

Articles in which cultivators share their understandings typically reflect an individual's perception at a point in time based on their cultivation state, and they are offered in the spirit of enabling mutual elevation.
